BOX SCORE (PDF)

HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. –
Max Viera went 3-for-5 with a pair of RBI doubles plus had two runs scored, Ben Malgeri went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs, while Jared Dupere had a double and scored two runs to lead Northeastern (28-6, 16-0 CAA) in a 10-3 win on the road over Hofstra (15-20, 6-14 CAA) Wednesday afternoon to extend their NCAA leading win streak to 18 and CAA record win streak to start a season to 16. It is NU's fifth win over Hofstra since Friday and their eighth win over the Pride this season.

Northeastern came out flying with four runs in the first and knocking out Hofstra's starting pitcher, Jack Jett, without recording an out. Jeff Costello was the first to cross the plate thanks to confusion between the Hofstra catcher and third baseman on a throw down to third getting away even though it was a walk that would've made the bases loaded. Scott Holzwasser was next to head home thanks to a Viera double to right center. Danny Crossen who went 2-for-3 (.398 batting average leads the CAA) and Malgeri each had a sac fly in the inning and the Huskies were rolling.

In the third, Viera knocked home Dupere following a Dupere double. Holzwasser added to the rout thanks to an RBI single up the middle plating Costello in the fourth. Ian Fair got into the action with an RBI single in the seventh knocking Malgeri home. In the ninth, Malgeri had an RBI single up the middle, an error by Hofstra's third baseman aided another run off a Fair hit and Teddy Beaudet knocked one in to push the Northeastern lead to 10-3.

The Huskies pitched a bullpen game starting with Brian Rodriguez (2-0) who threw three innings of one hit ball including two strikeouts and no runs. Thomas Balboni, James Quinlivan, Owen Langan, Jake Gigliotti, David Stiehl, Eric Yost and Brandon Dufault all saw time on the mound in the win.

Hofstra had an RBI single from Anthony D'Onofrio and a two RBI double from Kevin Bruggeman for their lone runs.

The Huskies now head to Delaware for a four-game series starting Friday at 3 p.m..
