Huskies Set to Compete at NCAA East Preliminaries

BOSTON – Northeastern's David Adams (hurdles), Erica Belvit (hammer throw), Cameron Dickson (10,000) and Alexander Korczynski (steeplechase) will compete at the NCAA East Preliminaries Outdoor Track and Field Championships on May 26-29 in Jacksonville, Fla. The Huskies will begin competition with the first round of the men's 400-meter hurdles on May 26 at 8:20 p.m. 
 
THREE THINGS TO KNOW:
 
  1. Last Time Out: At the IC4A/ECAC Championships, Dominique Biron broke Northeastern's all-time record in the heptathlon with a first-place score of 5,336 points. Belvit took home gold in the women's hammer throw with a mark of 208 feet, 7 inches. Naukym Morton, Adams, Dametrius O'Connor and Donatien Djero led the men's 4x100 meter relay to a first-place finish with a season-best time of 40.46. Dickson finished second in the men's 10,000 meters with a personal-best time of 29:24.94. Djero placed second in the men's 100-meter dash with a personal-best time of 10.42 and ran a career-best time of 21.46 in the men's 200-meter dash to finish in third. The men's team placed third overall with a score of 49 points, while the women's team finished in eighth with 47 points.
  1. NCAA East Preliminaries: At the 2019 NCAA East Preliminaries, Adams led the Huskies with a record-breaking time of 51.26 in the men's 400-meter hurdles. Adams advanced to the quarterfinals, where he finished 18th overall with a time of 51.35. Belvit finished in 13th overall in the women's hammer throw, narrowly missing the qualification for the semifinals. In his first season with the Huskies, Korczynski competed in the men's 3000-meter steeplechase where he finished with a time of 9:11.21. Adams is a four-time qualifier for the NCAA East Preliminaries, while Belvit is set to make her third appearance at the national competition.
 
        3. Husky Highlights:
  • Adams' personal-best time of 14.02 at the CAA Championships earned him a first-place finish in the 110-meter hurdles. Adams was named the 2021 CAA Most Outstanding Track Athlete of the Meet after earning gold medals in the 400-meter hurdles (51.96), 4x100 relay (40.63) and the 4x400 relay (3:15.03). Adams recently broke Northeastern's 400-meter hurdles record at the Virginia Challenge with a time of 51.17, clocking the fastest mark in the CAA this spring. 
  • Belvit has broken Northeastern's school record in the women's hammer throw three times this season. Most recently, Belvit threw a personal-best distance of 219 feet, 6.65 inches at the UConn Northeast Invite. At the CAA Championship, Belvit earned a gold medal in the women's hammer throw with a mark of 198 feet, 11 inches.
  • Dickson's career-best performance at the IC4A/ECAC Championships put him at second for the 10,000 meters on Northeastern's all-time performance list with a time of 29:24.94. The senior claimed a gold medal in the men's 10,000 meters at the CAA Championships when he set a new meet record with a time of 29:55.50. 
  • Korczynski set a new meet record at the CAA Championships in the 3000-meter steeplechase and claimed first-place with a time of 8:49.71. Korczynski holds the number two spot for the 3000-meter steeplechase on Northeastern's all-time performance list after his performance at the CAA Championships.
