Sydney Fisher signs with Northeastern as grad transfer

BOSTON - Sydney Fisher, a four-year midfielder at the College of Holy Cross, has signed with the Northeastern women's soccer team as a graduate transfer heading into the 2021-22 season, head coach Ashley Phillips announced on Friday.

Fisher appeared in all 54 games during her time with the Crusaders, marking a consecutive 42 starts on the field and totaling 3775 minutes. The 5'6" native of Pomfret, Conn. was a two-time Patriot League All-Tournament Team honoree and recognized on the All-Patriot Second Team during her senior year.

Graduating magna cum laude from Holy Cross with her bachelors in interdisciplinary studies, Fisher was one of six inductees into the Phi Betta Kappa chapter which qualifies within the top eight percent of the senior class and the top two percent of the junior class. Phi Beta Kappa is the oldest and the most prestigious national academic honor society in America.

"We are thrilled to add Sydney to our group this fall," said Phillips. "She brings a ton of game experience along with a natural ability to lead. She's an awesome person who fits our program's ethos and will be a positive addition to our team in all areas."

Before competing at the collegiate level, Fisher was a five-year varsity athlete at Pomfret School and served as captain of the soccer team for two of those years (2016, '16) while also competing at the club level with FSA FC of the ECNL, captaining the team in 2016. In addition to her contributions to the soccer team, Fisher also competed on the varsity lacrosse team for five years and the varsity squash team for two. She also earned distinctions as All-State in 2014-16, Boston Globe All-Star (2015, '16), and was named to the Norwich Bulletin All-Area in 2016.
