BOSTON - Northeastern's David Adams and Alexander Korczynski will begin competition at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore., on Wednesday and will be nationally-televised on ESPN2 and streamed on ESPN3 (broadcast schedule). Adams will compete in the 400-meter hurdles, while Korczynski will run the 3,000-Steeplechase.
A native of Willimantic, Conn., Korczynski ran second fastest time in program history, 8:44.46, at the NCAA East Preliminaries in Jacksonville, Fla., to qualify for his first national outdoor meet in the 3000-Steeplechase. He won the steeplechase at the CAA Outdoor Championships with a then personal-best time of 8:49.71. Korczynski will compete in the semifinals of the steeplechase at 8:32 ET on Wednesday.
Adams is making his first to the national championship meet and will run the semifinals of the 400 hurdles on Wednesday at 10 p.m. ET. He was named Most Outstanding Track Athlete of the Meet after picking up three gold medals at the CAA Outdoor Championships, including both hurdle events. Adams ran a school record time of 50.85 in the 400 hurdles at the NCAA East Preliminaries to punch his ticket to the national meet.
This is the first time since the 2017 NCAA Championships that Northeastern has qualified two men's competitors. The Huskies won their sixth CAA Outdoor title earlier this season, matching the CAA record, and swept the conference cross country and outdoor track and field titles to become the first program to accomplish that feat since William & Mary in 2013.
