TOWSON, Md. Senior guard
Kendall Currence tallied a career-high 31 points and two other Huskies notched double-digits, but the Northeastern women's basketball team (11-7, 5-3 CAA) fell to Towson (14-4, 5-2 CAA) by a score of 86-81 at SECU Arena on Friday evening.
- Northeastern got off to a quick 9-0 run to start the game, highlighted by six points from Currence. The hosts then responded back with a 10-0 run to take a 10-9 lead at the 4:20 mark. The Tigers continued its scoring to take a 22-15 lead into the second.
- Currence continued to pace the Huskies offense in the second scoring Northeastern's first four points to trim Towson's lead to 24-20 at the 7:59 mark.
- A jumper by freshman guard Claudia Soriano cut the lead to 24-22, but Towson responded back with an 8-0 run to take a 29-22 advantage.
- The teams traded points for the remainder of the quarter, with a Currence three-pointer to cut the Tigers' lead to 45-40 going into halftime.
- The Tigers kicked off the second half on a 5-0 run to take a 50-40 lead. A Katie May three trimmed the deficit back to single digits, but Towson continued to respond back. A jumper by freshman guard Gemima Motema cut the lead to 63-54 at the 1:04 mark, but the hosts held on to take a 65-56 advantage into the fourth.
- Towson remained in control for most of the final quarter, until the final two minutes. A jumper by Currence cut the lead to 84-78, but the Tigers remained in front to seal the win.
- Towson tallied 21 points off second chance opportunities.
- Soriano notched 14 points, two steals and five rebounds.
- Sophomore forward Izzy Larsen had 10 points and six rebounds.
