DEDHAM, Mass. – The Northeastern field hockey team (3-10, 2-0 CAA) earned a convincing 5-1 victory over No. 25 William & Mary (7-7, 1-3 CAA) today at Dedham Field. The Huskies scored five unanswered goals to cement the win.
The win was the first over a ranked opponent for the Huskies since 2019 and the first win at home against a ranked opponent since 2014.
- The Tribe got on the board first, just under three minutes into the contest to take a 1-0 advantage.
- With just over two minutes left in the first frame, Maria Armaganian netted her first career goal off a penalty stroke to even the game.
- After a scoreless second period, the Huskies took a 2-1 lead on a goal from Emmy Stubbs who finished a perfect feed across the middle from Armaganian early in the third.
- Five minutes later in the third, Anna-Kate Domingue scored her second goal of the year, finishing a pass from Stubbs in the top left corner of the goal to put the Huskies up 3-1 heading into the final quarter.
- With six minutes left, Stubbs scored her second of the game and eighth of the season on a fantastic individual effort to put Northeastern up 4-1 and keep the game out of reach.
- As time winded down, the Huskies would add to their lead, this time from Emilia Adragna who found the back of the net on a rocket from the top of the circle. The goal put the Huskies up 5-1 and was Adragna's fifth of the season.
- The Huskies put 11 shots on goal to William & Mary's four, while the Tribe led in penalty corners 6-2.
- The win puts the Huskies in the win column at Dedham Field for the first time since September 4, a 7-0 win over Stonehill.
- Northeastern had three freshmen tally a goal in the contest.
- The Huskies sit alone atop the CAA standings with a 2-0 record in conference.
Northeastern will be back in action on Sunday, Oct. 16 at 12 p.m., when they take on Monmouth in the Mental Health Awareness game in partnership with Morgan's Message and The Hidden Opponent.
