DEDHAM, Mass. – The Northeastern field hockey team (3-11, 2-1 CAA) fell short to Monmouth (7-7, 3-1 CAA) today at Dedham Field, 4-3.
- The Hawks got on the board first just 48 seconds into the game off a penalty corner to take a 1-0 lead.
- About three minutes later Monmouth added another, again off a penalty corner to extend the lead to 2-0.
- The Huskies answered on a goal from Emmy Stubbs with 4:05 left in the first half on an assist from Anna-Kate Domingue and Ashley Pappas. For Pappas, it was her first career assist with the Huskies.
- The Hawks scored again with 20 seconds left in the first half, Annick van Lange of Monmouth tallied her third goal of the contest to take a 3-1 lead into the half.
- Northeastern would storm back, first with a goal from Mak Graves (her eighth of the season) on an unassisted effort out front to make it 3-2 after three quarters.
- Early in the fourth, Stubbs found the back of the net again for her tenth goal of the season with an assist from Maria Armaganian to tie the game.
- After a back and forth final 10 minutes, the Hawks found the game winner with 1:46 remaining to cement the 4-3 result.
- The game was even in penalty corners at six apiece and the Hawks led 10-5 in shots on goal.
Northeastern will be back in action next weekend when they travel to Delaware (Oct. 21) and Drexel (Oct. 23). Both games will be streamed on FloLive.
