BOSTON— The No. 3 seeded Northeastern women's soccer team is set to face the sixth-seeded Stony Brook Seawolves on Thursday, Oct. 27 at 5:30 p.m. in the CAA Quarterfinals. The match will be hosted by second-seeded Drexel at Vidas Field in Philadelphia.
THREE THINGS TO KNOW:
- POSTSEASON HONORS: Four Huskies earned All-CAA accolades as announced by the conference on Wednesday. Freshman Vivian Akyirem was named to the All-CAA First Team and All-Rookie team, junior Jessie Hunt was named to the All-CAA First Team, senior Alexis Legowski earned All-CAA Second Team honors and graduate student Holland Stam claimed All-CAA Third Team accolades.
- CAA TOURNAMENT HISTORY: The Huskies are making their 12th straight appearance in the CAA Tournament, with seven of those appearances coming under head coach Ashley Phillips. Northeastern has won the CAA Championship four times (2008, 2013, 2014, 2016) since joining the league in 2005.
- SCOUTING THE SEAWOLVES: Northeastern is 6-3-2 overall in the series and 1-0-0 in CAA play against the Seawolves. The Huskies and Stony Brook met for the first time as conference foes earlier this season, with Northeastern winning 3-0. Senior Nina Dooley, sophomore Megan Putvinski and senior Jane Kaull all scored for the Huskies, while Stam posted a five-save shutout.
The winner of the game will move on the CAA Semifinals where they will face second-seeded Drexel or seventh-seeded William & Mary on Sunday, Oct. 30 at 2 p.m.
