Huskies Take Down No. 20 UMass Amherst in Regular Season Finale

DEDHAM, Mass. – The Northeastern field hockey team (5-13, 3-3 CAA) earned a hard-fought win in the regular season finale over No. 20 UMass Amherst today at Dedham Field, 3-2.

  • The Huskies got out to a hot start with a goal just over five minutes into the game from Emilia Adragna. The freshman fired a shot from the top of the circle on a feed from Lara Taylor to put Northeastern up 1-0.
  • Later in the first quarter, Adragna would find the back of the net again for her second goal of the contest and eighth of the season. Sarah Coyle and Taylor were credited with the assists.
  • UMass would answer with just under ten minutes left in the first half to cut the Huskies lead in half going into the break, 2-1.
  • The Minutewomen tied the game with 45 seconds remaining in the third quarter to get the game all square heading into the final frame.
  • The Huskies stayed poised and found the game winner with 12:03 left in the game from Emmy Stubbs who finished a beautiful feed from Kate Blaisdell, to put the Huskies up 3-2 and cement the result. The goal was the 11th of the season for Stubbs.
  • Jonna Kennedy stood tall on her senior day, making huge saves down the stretch, and finishing with eight on the day.
  • The Huskies were outshot 16-8 and trailed the penalty corner opportunities 5-2 in the win.
