STORRS, CONN.- Sophomore guard
Gemima Motema tallied a team-high 11 points, but it was not enough as the Northeastern women's basketball team (1-1) fell to #6 UConn (1-0), 98-39, on Thursday night at the Gampel Pavilion.

Motema had a strong night for the Huskies, with her second straight game with double-digits. Sophomore
Camille Clement also chipped in with eight points (two three-pointers).
- UConn got off to a quick 7-0 lead, and didn't look back. The Huskies got on the board after a three from graduate student guard JaMiya Braxton, but UConn closed the first on a 22-6 run, finishing the quarter shooting 50% (9-of-18).
- Motema got scoring started in the second, but UConn responded right back. Junior guard Derin Erdogan and junior forward Halle Idowu tallied back-to-back threes at the 5:17 mark to trim the deficit to 35-17, but UConn continued its hot shooting by finishing the second on a 16-2 run, and led 51-19 at break.
- The third was more of the same as UConn went on a 10-2 run to start the quarter to extend the lead to 61-21, and remained in front up 72-29.
- The Huskies went on a 6-0 run late in the fourth, highlighted by back-to-back threes from Clement, but UConn held on for the win.
- Idowu and freshman forward Oralye Kiefer tallied five rebounds each.
- UConn shot 51.5% in the game (34-of-66).
The Huskies will host Boston College in their home opener on Wednesday, November 16. Tip-off is slated for 11 am, and can be watched on NESN & FloHoops.
