DAVIDSON, N.C. – The Northeastern men's basketball team (4-7) went into the holidays on a high note on Wednesday, receiving contributions up and down the lineup in a hard-fought victory on the road at Davidson, 73-70.

After the Wildcats clawed back to level the game at 62 with 5:44 to play, the Huskies dug in from there and went ahead for good on a floater from
Jahmyl Telfort with under a minute to play.

Telfort led all scorers with 20 points, reaching the 20-point mark for the fifth time this season as the Huskies earned their first true road win since Feb. 13, 2021. Telfort was one of four Huskies in double figures, joined by
Chris Doherty (13 points, five rebounds),
Jared Turner (12 points on 4-of-5 shooting) and
Glen McClintock (10 points on 4-of-4 shooting).

NU, which led for more than 35 minutes in the game, shot 48% overall and 9-of-19 from long range to go along with a season-high 18 assists on 28 made baskets.

Davidson (7-5), meanwhile, was 25-of-62 on the day and 2-of-12 from three, receiving a team-high 18 points from Grant Huffman along with 16 from Foster Loyer and 11 from David Skogman.

• Northeastern started hot for the second straight game, opening the contest 6-of-10 from the field and bolting out to a 10-point lead to force an early Davidson timeout. Turner had a quick eight points on a perfect 3-of-3 from the field to get the Huskies going from the field.

• Davidson, though, came right back with a 12-4 run to cut the deficit to 18-16 at the Under-12 before the Huskies responded with a 13-4 run of its own to get the lead back up to double digits before heading into the locker room up 42-32.

• Telfort led all scorers with nine points on 4-of-7 for a Northeastern squad that was 16-of-33 overall and 7-of-15 from deep in the opening half.

• Davidson chipped away throughout the second half, first using a 10-3 run to bring it within single digits before tying it at 62 with 5:44 to play.

• The teams went punch for punch from there in a game that had five ties and eight lead changes, with Doherty and
Rashad King contributing clutch buckets in the final minutes before Telfort's make with 56 seconds left.

• After a stop on the defensive end, King came up big yet again with an offensive rebound that setup Turner going 1-of-2 from the line to extend the lead to three with less than 10 seconds to go.`

The Huskies will return from the holiday break on Dec. 29 when Northeastern hosts North Carolina A&T in the CAA opener from Matthews Arena on NESN and FloHoops.
