Huskies Set to Open CAA Play at Monmouth, Host William & Mary

BOSTON – The Northeastern women's basketball team (5-6) is set to open conference play at Monmouth (5-6) on Friday, December 30 at 3 pm, and then host William and Mary (5-6) on Sunday, January 1 at 2 pm. Friday's contest will be steamed on FloHoops, and Sunday's will be on NESN & FloHoops.
 
THREE THINGS TO KNOW
  1. LAST TIME OUT – The Huskies closed out non-conference play with a 75-64 win at Stonehill. Sophomore forward Asha Parker and junior forward Izzy Larsen each had career-highs in the win, as they tallied 14 points and 11 points, respectively. Junior guard Derin Erdogan and sophomore guard Gemima Motema each scored 10, while senior guard Jaelyn Batts dished out a game-best five assists in her Huskies debut.
  2. IN THE CAA RANKS – Motema and Erdogan are both in the CAA top five in field goal percentage. Motema ranks fourth (.460), and Derin is fifth (.452). Erdogan is also in the top 10 in three-point field goals per game, ranking eighth with 1.7 per game, while Motema is first in the conference in free throw percentage (.900).
  3. SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS – The Hawks are coming off a 70-50 loss defeat at BYU on Wednesday, December 21, and have not won a contest since December 1. Monmouth is averaging 62.9 points per game, and are led by graduate student guard Bri Tinsley, who is averaging 13.8 points per game. William and Mary is coming off a 70-52 loss to Norfolk State on December 21. The Tribe averages 63.4 points per game, and are led by graduate student guard Riley Casey, who averages 17.4 points per game. Casey has double-digit points in nine of William & Mary's games so far this season.
 After Monmouth and William & Mary, the Huskies will host UNCW on Sunday, January 8. Tip-off is slated for 1 pm, and can be watched on FloHoops.
