BOSTON – Behind a double-double from
Alexander Nwagha and 20 points from
Jahmyl Telfort, the Northeastern men's basketball team (2-6) used a big first half and never looked back, topping Georgia State (5-4) on Sunday afternoon at Matthews Arena, 66-46.
Â
Nwagha finished the day with a career-high 15 points and 14 rebounds for his second double-double of the season as the Huskies dominated the glass, 50-24, marking the first time since Dec. 20, 2011 that Northeastern hauled in at least 50 rebounds.
Â
The Huskies, who never trailed in the game, held Georgia State to a 19-of-68 afternoon from the field (1-of-20 from three), the 33rd time in the
Bill Coen era that NU has held an opponent under 50 points.
Â
Telfort finished the day 6-of-13 from the field to hit the 20-point plateau for the third time this season and set the tone for a 25-of-58 day for the Huskies overall and 5-of-12 from three. The Huskies also had a season-high 16 assists on 25 made field goals.
Â

Harold Woods to get things going. Northeastern shot 42% (13-of-31) overall and 3-of-6 from long range.
Â
• It was more of the same in the second half as the Huskies used a 7-0 run to lead by as many as 24 to allow Northeastern to empty the bench down the stretch.Â
