ELON, N.C.- Senior guard
Kendall Currence became the 23
rd player in program history to reach 1,000 career points, as Northeastern women's basketball (12-12, 6-8 CAA) fell to Elon (14-9, 6-7 CAA) by a score of 78-65 at the Schar Center on Sunday afternoon.

Currence paced the Huskies with 20 points (6-of-14) and (3-of-5 from three) in the game. Freshman guard
Claudia Soriano (13 points) and freshman guard
Gemima Motema (10 points), also notched double-digits. Â
- Elon stormed out to an early 8-0 lead in the game, as Motema scored the first basket for Northeastern at the 6:04 mark.
- Elon responded right back with a three to take a commanding 11-2 lead.
- Back-to-back baskets by Motema and graduate student forward Emily Calabrese made it 11-6, but the hosts proceeded to score four straight points to make it 15-6 at the 4:15 mark.
- The Huskies continued to chip away at the deficit though, and went on a 9-0 to close the quarter, only trailing 20-19.
- After the teams traded points to start the second, Motema gave the Huskies a 26-24 lead at the 7:25 mark, but Elon responded right back to knot the game up.
- Northeastern led by two on multiple occasions, but got into foul trouble in the last two minutes, which led to Elon being in the bonus. The Phoenix then took advantage of free throw opportunities to continue to keep the game within reach.
- A pair of free throws by the hosts knotted the game up at 35 with 1:50 left, but a three-pointer by Currence pulled the Huskies back in front, and ultimately leading 41-39 going into halftime.
- Elon started the third on a 6-0 run, and pulled back in front 45-41 at the 7:47 mark.
- The hosts continued to pull ahead, with another 6-0 run, to extend the lead to 51-42 at the 5:20 mark.
- Calabrese notched the Huskies' first field goal of the quarter with a jumper at the 4:58 mark, to trim the deficit to 51-44.
- Elon outscored Northeastern 22-7, and took a 61-48 lead heading into the fourth.
- The Phoenix remained in control, after a 5-0 run extended their edge to 66-53 at the 8:29 mark.
- The Huskies fought back with a 10-0 run to trim the hosts' deficit to 66-60 at the 6:07 mark, highlighted by a three-pointer by freshman guard Camille Clement.
- Elon responded back with a 10-0 run, and ultimately held on for the win.
- Clement had a career-high seven points.
- Calabrese chipped in with six points and four rebounds.
- Elon recorded 36 points in the paint compared to 18 for Northeastern.
- The Phoenix tallied 21 points from the free throw line.
