WASHINGTON D.C. – Trailing by 12 early in the second half, the No. 9 Northeastern men's basketball team (9-22) clawed back to make it a one-point game with two minutes to go, but free throws down the stretch sent No. 1 Towson (25-7) past the Huskies on Sunday in the CAA Quarterfinals, 68-61.

Chris Doherty led four players in double figures with 13 points on 5-of-11 shooting and eight rebounds, while
Nikola Djogo (11 points, eight rebounds) and
Shaquille Walters (10 points, four assists) both hit double digits in their final collegiate game.
Jahmyl Telfort added 11 points for NU, which shot 42% overall (21-of-50) and 9-of-23 from three.

Doherty finishes the season with 268 rebounds, good for ninth on Northeastern's single-season record list.

Nicolas Timberlake had a game-high 25 points for the Tigers, with 23 coming in the second half. He was assisted by 18 points and six assists from Cameron Holden for a Towson squad that was 21-of-49 from the field and 2-of-14 from deep.

• Both teams recovered from slow starts in the first half, with Northeastern leading for most of the opening 20 minutes to take a one-point lead into the locker room at half, 28-27. NU was 11-of-27 overall and 2-of-5 from three, led by Doherty's nine points and seven rebounds, while
Jason Strong added seven off the bench.

• The Huskies led by as many as 10 in the first half thanks to a 16-2 run over a five-minute span, but Towson closed the half with a 12-4 run of its own to close the gap. Holden led the way with 11 points for the Tigers, who shot 39% (10-of-26) from the field and 2-of-10 from deep.

• Momentum turned at the start of the second half as Towson opened on an 11-2 run to retake the lead early on, with eight of those points coming from Timberlake.

• Towson led by as many as 12 with 13:35 remaining before Northeastern began to chip away, and used a 10-0 run over nearly four minutes to bring it within one point with 2:02 to go, 58-57.

• It was a free throw contest from there, with Towson finishing 8-of-11 from the line in the final minute to secure the victory.
