Six Huskies Named New England All-Stars

BOSTON— Six student-athletes from the Northeastern women's hockey team were named 2021-22 New England Division I All-Stars as announced by the New England Hockey Writers Association on Tuesday. Northeastern's Aerin Frankel, Skylar Fontaine, Brooke Hobson, Chloé Aurard, Alina Mueller and Maureen Murphy all earned recognition.
 
The WHCA Goalie of the Year, Frankel led the nation in shutouts with a program record 11 this season. In addition to New England All-Star honors, Frankel was named a First Team CCM/AHCA All-American, Second Team All-USCHO, Hockey East Goaltender of the Year and First Team All-Star. She finished her career with the Huskies with a .949 save percentage and 1.31 GAA, while owning every career goaltending record in program history.
 
The Huskies' lone NCAA All-Tournament team member, Fontaine is the most decorated blue-liner in program history. The defenseman led the nation this past season with 41 assists. She averaged 1.08 assists per game, making her the first defenseman to end the season leading that stat in the NCAA.
 
A two-year captain, and just the 13th Husky to earn the distinction of wearing the 'C' for two years, Hobson has been an integral part of the Northeastern defense during her five years. She finished her career just shy of the 100-point mark with 98 points off 21 goals and 77 assists. Hobson earned Hockey East Second Team All-Star honors this past season.
 
Currently playing with the French National Team at the 2022 IIHF Women's World Championship Division I, Group A, Aurard was second on the team with 20 goals. She also tallied 22 assists, to chip in 42 points overall for the Huskies. Aurard was a Second Team Hockey East All-Star and has now earned Hockey East postseason accolades all four years of her Northeastern career.
 
The three-time Swiss Olympian, Mueller led the nation averaging 1.86 points per game. She became the all-time assists leader at Northeastern, breaking a record that had stood since the 1989 season with her 119th assist. Despite playing in just 21 games, Mueller contributed 39 points off 11 goals and 28 assists.
 
The nation's leading goal-scorer, Murphy had a breakout year for Northeastern. Murphy not only led the nation with 30 goals, she also tallied an NCAA-best 13 power play goals. Her 56 points off 30 goals and 26 assists were also a career high and led to her first CCM/AHCA All-American honors, earning a place on the second team this season.
 
The Huskies led all schools with six honorees out of the 18-member Division I All-Star team. After a two-year absence, the New England Hockey Writers Association will host an awards reception on Thursday, May 5, at the Prince Restaurant in Saugus, MA.
