LOWELL, Mass. – In a mid-week, non-conference matchup, Northeastern University baseball (27-25-1) took down UMass Lowell (23-27) in 12 innings of play by a score of 4-3.

- The Huskies tallied the first run of the game in the fourth inning when Spenser Smith hit a leadoff single and made it to third on a ground out. Smith ran home on a wild pitch, giving the Huskies 1-0 lead.
- Lowell tied the game up on a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the seventh with the bases loaded.
- The River Hawks took the lead in the bottom of the eighth with another sac-fly RBI.
- Northeastern's starter Jake Gigliotti went 4.0 innings allowing four hits, no runs, while walking one and striking out two.
- Michael Gemma took over in the fifth, going 2.1 innings allowing one run on three hits and two walks – he struck out two batters in his outing.
- Jack Beauchesne saw 1.0 inning of work with no hits allowed with one unearned run and a walk.
- The Huskies began the top of the ninth with a walk to Luke Beckstein and a hit-by-pitch to pinch-hitting Corey DiLoreto. Beckstein advanced to third on a fly out and was hit home on a fielders choice by Jack Throbahn to tie the game at 2-2.
- Jordy Allard took over in the bottom of the ninth and forced extra innings as he struck out the final two outs of that inning. He went on to strike out the side in the bottom of the 10th inning to once again prevent a walk-off.
- With the bases loaded in the top of the 11th off of three straight walks, Danny Crossen hit a deep fly out to score pinch-runner Buddy Mrowka from third base.
- The River Hawks tied the game back up in the bottom of the frame with an RBI double.
- Spenser Smith belted a single to right field to lead off the top of the 12th. The right fielder misplayed the hop and Smith was able to advance to third on the error.
- It was Beckstein who tallied the game-winning RBI as he sent Smith home on a ball to center field, giving Northeastern the 4-3 lead. Smith finished the day with two runs scored for the Huskies and four of their eight hits.
- With the one run lead, rookie right-hander Brett Dunham took the mound for the Huskies. He allowed a leadoff single but got a strikeout and a ground-out double play to end the game with his first career save. Allard got the win in relief and is now 3-2.
- The win was just the first of the season for the Huskies in an extra innings game (1-2 record in extra-inning games).
- Northeastern finished the regular season winning its last three mid-week non-conference games.

The Huskies wrap up the CAA conference slate with a road series at Delaware this Thursday through Saturday, May 19-21. Northeastern needs one CAA win to clinch postseason play.
