Bailey Smith Tabbed CAA Leadership and Sport Excellence Award Recipient

RICHMOND, Va. –
Senior Bailey Smith of Northeastern swimming and diving was named a 2021-22 CAA Leadership and Sport Excellence award recipient, announced by the league on Tuesday. This award honors one student-athlete from each CAA sport sponsored by the conference who represents the highest standards of teamwork, integrity, leadership and sportsmanship in his or her academic and athletic achievements.
 
Smith graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Cell and Molecular Biology with a minor in Women's Gender and Sexuality Studies. The Fort Plain, New York native had a 4.0 GPA in all eight semesters she was enrolled in at Northeastern, earned SASS Top Dog awards (3.8+ GPA), appeared on the Dean's List every semester, and is a CAA Institutional Scholar-Athlete.
 
In the pool, the senior and captain of the Huskies is a three-time All-CAA performer in the 200 backstroke, and capped off her final year in style, earning silver in the event with a time of 1:58.08 at the CAA Championships. Smith also had a top-five finish in the 200 Fly with a time of 2:04.01 at the Championships.
