NEWARK, Del. – Senior outside hitter
Erica Staunton notched a career-high 26 kills on .273 hitting, but the Northeastern volleyball team (3-8, 0-2 CAA) fell to Delaware (6-4, 2-0 CAA) in a five-set marathon on Sunday afternoon at the Bob Carpenter Center.

Staunton was a force all over the court, ending the match with 11 digs, picking up her first-double-double of the season. The senior also had three blocks.

Graduate student outside hitter
Laura Seeger also picked up a double-digit performance with 16 kills, and had seven digs and three blocks.

Delaware def. Northeastern (23-25, 25-21, 28-30, 25-16, 13-15)
- Senior middle blocker Nailah Jenkins had nine kills and eight blocks.
- Senior libero Kayla Martin notched 24 digs and five assists. Martin now has 983 career digs.
- Sophomore setter Jessica Frannea dished out 50 assists, three short of a career-high. Frannea also had five kills and five digs.
- Sophomore outside hitter Rafaella Lepenioti chipped in with eight digs.
- Graduate student middle blocker Nikiya Mitchell tallied five kills and three blocks.
- The Huskies led 10-5 in the decisive fifth set, but the Blue Hens used a 6-0 run to eventually pull ahead, and seal with the win 15-13.
- Delaware's Lani Mason had a match-high 35 kills and 10 digs.
- Northeastern was strong defensively, outblocking Delaware 13-8.
- The match featured 45 tie scores, and 18 lead changes.
The Huskies will host Elon on Saturday, October 1 and Sunday, October 2. Both matches are slated for 2 pm, and can be watched on
