BOSTON - The Northeastern men's soccer team (2-3-3, 1-1-1 CAA) returns to conference play this Saturday, September 24 at 4 p.m. as the Huskies face CAA newcomers Stony Brook (3-5-0, 1-2-0 CAA) at Kenneth P. Lavalle Stadium.
THREE THINGS TO KNOW:
- RIVALRY RENEWED: Northeastern and Stony Brook are both former members of the America East conference - the Seawolves joined in 2001, before the Huskies left in 2005, giving the two schools just five years of overlap. There have only been nine men's soccer matches between the two programs, with the Huskies owning a 6-3-0 record against Stony Brook. The last match between the two teams was a 3-2 overtime victory for Northeastern back in 2014.
- IRON MEN:Â Two veterans of the squad, Timothy Ennin and Omar Da Naia, surpassed the 50-game mark this past Wednesday in the away match to Holy Cross. So far this season Ennin has featured in all eight games for the Huskies this season, while Da Naia has returned to feature in four of the last five, including two starts.
- POINTS ON THE LINE: The Huskies come into the weekend three points off of first place, looking to bounce back from a conference loss in the previous CAA match day to Hofstra. Stony Brook, also coming off a conference loss, sits just one point behind Northeastern, as both teams fight for early conference positioning.Â
The Huskies will have a whole week to prep for their next CAA match, with their next contest coming Saturday, October 1st. Northeastern returns to Parsons Field to host UNCW at 6 p.m. on FloFC.
