Box Score HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. – The Northeastern field hockey team (2-7, 1-0 CAA) picked up a 2-1 win in double overtime to open the CAA schedule today at Hofstra (4-6, 0-1 CAA).
Mak Graves scored the winner for the Huskies early on in the second overtime period.
- After a scoreless first quarter, freshman Emmy Stubbs cleaned up a mess in front of the net to give the Huskies a 1-0 lead early on in the second quarter that would hold into the halftime break. The goal was Stubbs fifth of her career in just her ninth game with Northeastern.
- With just over 13 minutes remaining in regulation, Hofstra found the equalizer and the two teams would head to overtime deadlocked at one.
- With no scoring in the first overtime, the Huskies got a penalty corner opportunity early on in the second. Sarah Coyle sent it in, Maria Armaganian set it and Graves finished it with a rocket into the left side of the cage to give Northeastern the win in sudden death.
- The win snaps a five-game skid for the Huskies.
- Northeastern outshot Hofstra 12-7 in the contest and enjoyed a 6-4 advantage on penalty corner opportunities.
The Huskies will return home to take on UMass Lowell this Sunday, Oct. 2 at 12 p.m. The game will be streamed on FloLive.
