BOSTON - The Northeastern men's soccer team (3-3-3, 2-1-1 CAA) faces CAA foe UNCW (3-1-4, 2-0-2 CAA) this coming Saturday evening at Parsons Field. The game kicks off at 6pm, and will be broadcast on FloFC.
The game will serve as the team's Mental Health Awareness game, with players and staff members speaking out about the stigma around mental health in the week leading up to the contest. The game's promotion is partnered with
Morgan's Message. There will be a fan shuttle for students leaving from 50 Forsyth Street at 5:30pm for the 6pm kickoff.
THREE THINGS TO KNOW:
- WHERE THEY STAND: The Seahawks come into the fourth CAA match day as the last team without a conference loss at 2-0-2. Their eight conference points are good for second place in the conference. Northeastern's 2-1-1 record puts the team at seven points, tied with four other teams - the Huskies sit fifth due to tiebreakers with Hofstra and Drexel.
- WE'VE GOT HISTORY: UNCW took the 2021 match up between the two teams with a 3-2 overtime victory, despite the Huskies' incredible comeback in the second half to overcome a two-goal deficit with goals by Harry Sankey (57') and Jack Monte (90'). All-time, the Huskies own a 6-10-2 record against the Seahawks, with a 2-3-0 record in the last five meetings.
- SPREAD IT OUT: The Huskies' 13 goals this season have come from nine different goal-scorers so far this season - leading the way with two goals each are Ryan Massoud (2g, 2a, 6p), Tobias Wangerud (2g, 1a, 5p) Sebastian Restrepo (2g, 4p) and Federico Tellez (2g, 4p).
The Huskies return to non-conference action next Tuesday, October 4, as they travel to Providence to face Brown at 7pm on ESPN+. Their next conference match is the following Saturday, October 8, as they host CAA newcomer Monmouth at 4pm.
