Huskies Back Home With The Eagles

BOSTON, Mass. -- After a weekend of rest and recovery, the RV/#20 Northeastern Huskies will host the Boston College Eagles on Tuesday, Jan. 31 at Matthews Arena.

This is the fourth matchup this season between the two programs and game time is set for 7:00 p.m. on NESN.

THREE THINGS TO KNOW:
  1. FOURTH TIMES A CHARM: In the 2022-23 campaign, the Huskies and Eagles have battled to the end in each contest. The first two matchups of the season resulted in ties that Northeastern went on to win in shootout. In their last meeting at Conte Forum, the Eagles skated away with a 3-2 win.
  2. LONG TIME HISTORY: Against Boston College, since their freshman season, captain Aidan McDonough leads with eight points (4g, 4a), Riley Hughes has tallied six points (1g, 5a), Jayden Struble has recorded four assists, Matt DeMelis has tallied three points (2g, 1a), and Jeremie Bucheler has added two helpers. In their careers at Northeastern, Gunnarwolfe Fontaine holds nine points (2g, 7a) in eight games against the Eagles while junior Sam Colangelo (3g, 2a) and graduate student Jakov Novak (2g, 3a) each have five. Freshman Cam Lund even recorded his first career hat trick, along with the lone goal in shootout, in a home draw this season.
  3. POINT HUNTING: Three players are currently riding point streaks as Northeastern heads into their sixth game of 2023. Senior Aidan McDonough leads with nine points (6g, 3a) in five games, averaging 1.8 points per game in the month of January. Graduate student Liam Walsh has taken off since the Huskies matchup up with UConn at Frozen Fenway, recording five points (2g, 3a) in four games. Senior Jayden Struble has recorded four assists in his last three games, including a helper on McDonough's game-winning goal against #11 Merrimack.
