HAMPTON, Va. – Led by 19 points from junior
Jahmyl Telfort, the Northeastern men's basketball team (6-9, 2-2) stormed out to an early lead on Hampton (3-13, 0-4) and never looked back in a hard-fought win on the road Saturday at the HU Convocation Center, 79-63.

Telfort was one of three Huskies in double figures on the day, joined by 14 from
Coleman Stucke including a 2-of-5 showing from long range.
Masai Troutman added 11 points off the bench along with a massive block in the first half, while
Chris Doherty had eight points and a team-high eight rebounds.

Telfort reached double digits for the 13th time this season to pace all scorers, including 12 in the first half to give the Huskies a 45-28 cushion at the break. It was more of the same in the second half for Northeastern, which allowed head coach
Bill Coen to empty the bench late in the game.

Northeastern, which led by as many as 24 in the game, shot over 50% for the third time in the last three games, going 26-of-45 from the floor (57.8%) and 8-of-18 from three (44.4%). The Huskies also outrebounded the Pirates 39-22 on the day.

Hampton, meanwhile, was 24-of-63 on the afternoon and 5-of-13 from three, receiving a team-high 17 points and six assists from Russell Dean on 6-of-20 from the floor. Marquis Godwin added 16 points and five rebounds for the hosts.

The Huskies will return home for three of their next four games, beginning on Saturday against Drexel. Tipoff is slated for 12 p.m. on FloHoops.
