No. 7 Huskies Travel to Merrimack

BOSTON— The No. 7 Northeastern women's hockey team is set to travel to face the Merrimack College Warriors on Friday, Oct. 13 at 6 p.m. in Lawler Rink. The game will stream live on ESPN+.

THREE THINGS TO KNOW:
  1. GWYN-YTHING IS POSSIBLE: Gwyneth Philips leads all NCAA goaltenders in shutouts (4) and wins (5). Among goaltenders that have played more than three games, Philips also leads the country in GAA (.50) and save percentage (.981). The Athens, Ohio native has allowed just three goals in six starts this season.
  2. LOCK IT DOWN: The Huskies lead the nation in team shutouts with four, all coming with Philips in net. The Huskies rank second in scoring defense (.50) and team goals against average (.50). Northeastern's penalty killing unit has yet to give up a power-play goal and has held opponents from scoring 23 times on the player advantage.
  3. WARRIORS COME OUT AND PLAY: Northeastern and Merrimack are set to meet for the first time this season. The Huskies enter the matchup riding a four-game winning streak, while the Warriors are on a three-game winning streak. Merrimack will be opening its Hockey East slate against NU. A familiar face is now behind the Merrimack bench, as Northeastern women's hockey alum Stephanie Wood is in her first season as an assistant coach for the Warriors. Through five games, 12 Warriors have recorded a point and Mary Edmonds and Allison Reeb are tied for a team-high three points. Calli Hogarth has started four games in goal and owns a 2.23 GAA and .894 save percentage. The Huskies have won 13 straight games against Merrimack, most recently defeating them in the Hockey East Quarterfinals last season, 5-1.
The Huskies will next head to the Ice Breaker Tournament to take on No. 14/15 St. Cloud State on Friday, Oct. 20 at 4 p.m.
