BOSTON - The Northeastern University men's soccer team (3-5-4, 1-2-3 CAA) hits the road for a pair of games this Saturday, October 14 and Tuesday, October 17. The Huskies face CAA opponent Monmouth on Saturday at 7 p.m., streaming on FloFC, and return to Boston next Tuesday to face Boston University at 4 p.m. on ESPN+.
THREE THINGS TO KNOW:
- ROAD DOGS: Northeastern is 3-2-1 in road games this season, including a conference win over UNCW early in the season, 3-1. Northeastern has outscored opponents 11-6 on the road in 2023, and has out-shot opponents 28-22 on goal in those games. This will be Northeastern's first trip to Hesse Field, and just the second time facing Monmouth in program history after their first CAA match last season ended 1-0 in favor of the Hawks at Parsons Field.
- WHERE THEY STAND: Monmouth and Northeastern are separated by just one spot, and two conference points, in the CAA standings - Monmouth enters the weekend with eight points (2-1-2) through five games played, Northeastern at six through five played. The Huskies need three points on Saturday for a better chance at clinching a top-6 playoff spot, as every team below them in the standings has one more conference game in hand over them.
- THE DIRTY WATER DERBY: The Huskies and the Terriers will meet for the 35th time in program history, with the Terriers holding the all-time advantage 22-10-2. Northeastern took a 2-1victory at Parsons Field last October, on a huge second half two-goal comeback, with Harry Sankey equalizing in the 62nd minute, and Fraser Brown converting on a Federico Tellez corner in the 86th minute for the lead.
Northeastern returns home for Alumni Day next Saturday, October 21st at 2 p.m. with events for alumni all morning leading up to game time. The Huskies face non-conference opponent Rutgers, with the game streaming on NESN+ and FloFC.
