BOSTON— With a spot in the CAA Tournament already secured, the Northeastern women's soccer team will look to finish the regular season on a high note, first hosting its final regular season home game against the Stony Brook Seawolves on Thursday, Oct. 19 at 6 p.m. The Huskies will then travel to William & Mary for a noon kickoff on Sunday, Oct. 22.
Thursday's game will stream live on FloFC, while only live stats will be available on Sunday at William & Mary.
THREE THINGS TO KNOW:
- STAM(P) OF APPROVAL: Goalkeeper Holland Stam earned her second CAA Defensive Player of the Week nod in as many weeks after shutting out the Towson Tigers with six saves in a 1-0 victory. Stam has now posted three straight shutouts in goal for the Huskies. Behind Stam's performance against Towson, the Huskies clinched their 13th straight appearance in the CAA Tournament.
- SCOUTING THE SEAWOLVES: Stony Brook enters Thursday's matchup still looking for a spot in the CAA Tournament, sitting at sixth overall with a 4-4-3 record in conference. The Seawolves are on a three-match unbeaten streak and most recently defeated Elon, 4-2. The Huskies own a 7-3-2 record all-time against the Seawolves, defeating them twice last season by scores of 3-0 and 2-1. Vivian Akyirem scored a brace against Stony Brook in the CAA Tournament to send Northeastern to the semifinals.
- A LOOK AT WILLIAM & MARY: The Tribe will face Towson on Thursday, before taking on the Huskies on Sunday. William & Mary is also still in the hunt for a playoff spot, currently sitting at fifth overall in the league standings with a 5-2-3 record in conference. The Huskies are 11-5-4 all-time against the Tribe and are on a seven-match winning streak. Northeastern won last season's meeting 3-2 with goals from Alexis Legowski, Akyirem and Rose Kaefer.
Northeastern will next compete in the CAA Tournament, with final seeding and matchups to be determined based on this week's results.
