BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Abby Reck tallied a team-high 14 kills, but it was not enough as the Northeastern volleyball team (9-9, 7-5 CAA) fell to Campbell (12-10, 9-3) in straight sets on Sunday afternoon at Gilbert Craig Gore Arena.
- Set One: The Huskies got off to an early 7-4 advantage, capped off by a kill from Marika Virthe. A few points later, Northeastern extended its lead to 13-7 after back-to-back kills by Julianna Truscott. The Camels trimmed the deficit to 16-13 after four straight points and continued to fight back. Knotted up at 18, both teams traded points down the stretch, with neither leading by more than one. Campbell pulled ahead at 23-21 and took the set at 25-21.
- Set Two: Campbell got off to a 7-3 lead and continued to remain in front. The Camels extended the advantage to 19-10, but the Huskies fought their way back down the stretch. With the Camels up 24-15, Northeastern tallied seven straight points to make it 24-22, capped off by a kill from Reck, but Campbell held onto take the set at 25-22.
- Set Three: The Camels led 6-2 at the start and extended their advantage to 11-5 a few points later. Northeastern trimmed the deficit to 15-12 after a kill from Reck and an error by the hosts, but Campbell responded back with three straight points to lead at 18-12. The Camels took the set at 25-19.
- Truscott chipped in with six kills and seven digs.
- Tessa Onaga tallied a team-high 15 digs.
The Huskies will host Charleston the weekend of October 28-29. First serve is slated for 1 p.m. on both days and will stream on FloVolleyball.
