Northeastern Men’s Rowing Alum Tom Kiefer Inducted Into 2023 Rowing Hall Of Fame

BOSTON – Northeastern men's rowing alum Tom Kiefer was inducted into the 2023 Rowing Hall of Fame at the Head of the Charles Regatta on Saturday.

Kiefer, a Northeastern men's rowing standout, got inducted as part of the 1984 Olympic Silver Medal coxed four that missed out on gold by one second. Kiefer kicked off his Northeastern campaign in style, stepping right into the stroke seat of the freshman boat and rowed it to its only Eastern Sprints Title. As a sophomore, he raced in the varsity eight and remained there for three years. During his career, the Huskies won 10- regular season regattas while losing only four. As a senior, Northeastern was among the best in the nation, finishing third in both Eastern Sprints and IRA's. In spring of 1981, Kiefer graduated from Northeastern and moved on to a six-year stint with the United States national team, where he won three bronze medals in World Championships and in 1986, won a gold in Moscow at the Goodwill Games. Kiefer was inducted into the Varsity Club Hall of Fame in 1997.
