BOSTON— The No. 7/5 Northeastern women's hockey team is set to open its Hockey East slate with a home-and-home series against the Boston University Terriers beginning on Friday, Oct. 6 at Walter Brown Arena. The series will then head to Matthews Arena on Saturday, Oct. 7 for a 1:30 p.m. puck drop.

Both games will stream live on ESPN+. The Huskies' home game on Saturday is their pride game and early arriving fans will receive a free pride t-shirt.

THREE THINGS TO KNOW:
- WEEKLY WINNERS: Following a road sweep of LIU, Gwyneth Philips was named Hockey East Goaltender of the Week, and Kristina Allard earned Hockey East Defender of the Week honors. Philips made 36 saves over back-to-back shutouts against the Sharks. Her three shutouts this season lead the NCAA. Allard potted her first two career goals in the 6-0 victory over LIU to earn her first weekly career honor.
- A LEAGUE ON NOTICE: Northeastern was picked to repeat as champions in the Hockey East Preseason Head Coaches' Poll. The Huskies received eight out of 10 possible first-place votes to claim 88 points and the top spot in the poll. The Huskies were followed by Vermont (2), Providence (3), UConn (4), Boston University (5), Boston College (6), Maine (7), New Hampshire (8), Merrimack (9) and Holy Cross (10) in the poll.
- GOOD DAWG, BAD DOG: Northeastern is set to open its Hockey East slate against the Boston University Terriers for the first time since the 2018-19 season. The Terriers will open their 2023-24 season against the Huskies. NU owned a 4-0-0 record over BU last season and outscored the Terriers, 19-2. The Terriers are led by first-year head coach Tara Watchorn, who returns to her alma mater as the second coach in program history. BU has 10 newcomers on its roster this season.
Northeastern will next travel to Merrimack on Friday, Oct. 13 for a 6 p.m. puck drop.
