Huskies Open Season at Rutgers With Army, Harvard and Delaware

PISCATAWAY, N.J. — The Northeastern women's swimming and diving team begins its season Friday, Oct. 6 at the Rutgers Pre-Season Tune Up in the Rutgers Aquatics Center. The Huskies will go up against Rutgers, Army, Delaware and Harvard over the two-day meet, with action beginning Friday at 5 p.m.

THREE THINGS TO KNOW:
  1. CAPTAINING THE SHIP: Senior Grace Miller, senior Sofia Long and senior Lizzie Meschisen were named captains of the 2023-24 squad by head coach Roy Coates. The three will lead a team that comes off a third-place finish at the 2023 CAA Championships — the best in program history — and earned 10 gold medals at the competition.
  2. RUN IT BACK: CAA Diver of the Year Erin Murphy returns to the Huskies for her third year on the diving boards. Murphy, a junior from Duxbury, Mass., was the first Husky to earn the award after earning the silver medal in the 3M dives with a score of 289.25, as well as the bronze medal in the 1M dives at 280.60 at the CAA Championships.
  3. KEEPING UP WITH KOO: Senior freestyle and butterfly swimmer Jamie Koo is coming off an impressive 2022-23 campaign, where she earned All-CAA honors in the 50 Free, 100 Fly, 200 Free Relay and 400 Medley Relay. The Singapore native broke the school record in the 50 Free (22.21) and 100 Fly (53.28) last season and was a CSCAA Scholar All-American.
After this weekend, the Huskies will swim at MIT Friday, Oct. 27 at 6:30 p.m.
