Koo, Huskies Claim Victory Over UConn

BOSTON — Senior Jamie Koo picked up two individual wins to lead the Northeastern swim and dive team (1-1) to a dual meet win over the UConn Huskies (2-2) Saturday afternoon at the Barletta Natatorium.
  • The 200 Medley Relay group of sophomore Anna Verlander, sophomore Elisabeth Bendall, Koo and sophomore Kotoko Blair earned the first win of the day for the Huskies with a time of 1:44.84.
  • Senior captain Grace Miller followed that with a win in the 200 Free, posting a time of 1:54.01.
  • In the next event, it was Verlander's turn for her own individual win, touching the wall at 56.18 in the 100 Back and earning a first-place finish.
  • Koo then championed the 50 Free, sprinting to a time of 23.32 to earn the win.
  • The next win came in the 1M Dive, as junior Erin Murphy posted a score of 262.13, tying with UConn's Julia Pioso to win the event.
  • Blair, after winning the 200 Medley Relay, picked up a win in the 100 Free with a time of 52.31 seconds.
  • Koo had the last individual win for the Huskies, championing the 100 Fly with a time of 55.90 seconds, beating out Husky teammate May Bradburn by 1.77 seconds.
  • Northeastern clinched the win by taking home the top three spots in the 200 Free Relay, with Koo, Bradburn, freshman Mary Nordmann and Blair finishing first with a time of 1:35.08, junior Stella Urness, Miller, junuor Angela Woronko and junior Emily Cooley taking second at 1:38.66 and sophomore Cambria Semmen, Verlander, junior Kate Cosgrove and senior Katherine Hong placing third with a time of 1:40.29.
Next, the Huskies move onto the Boston Terrier Invite at Boston University, beginning Nov. 17 at 10 a.m. and concluding Nov. 19.
