THREE THINGS TO KNOW:
- GYWN-YTHING IS POSSIBLE: Fifth year netminder Gwyneth Philips was named Hockey East's Stop It Goaltending Goaltender of the Month for September/October. Philips posted seven wins and an NCAA-best four shutouts to start the season. Among goaltenders that have played seven or more games, Philips leads the country in GAA (.93) and save percentage (.959).
- WELCOME TO THE HALL: Northeastern's Hall of Fame Class of 2023 features Kendall Coyne Schofield and the 1987-88 women's hockey team. Coyne Schofield and the 87-88 team were formally inducted on Thursday, Nov. 9. Coyne Schofield is one of the best to ever pull on a Northeastern sweater, tallying 141 goals, 108 assists and 249 points in 133 games played for the Huskies. The 2016 Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award winner still owns the program records for career goals (141) and single-season points (84). Â Head coach Don MacLeod's undefeated 1987-88 squad is one of the best in Northeastern women's hockey history. The Huskies went 26-0-1 and won an ECAC Championship and a Beanpot title. On the road to the team's first-ever ECAC Championship, Northeastern defeated Harvard 6-2 and then took down Providence in the title game, 5-3.
- A LOOK AT THE FRIARS: Northeastern and Providence are meeting for the first time since the Huskies defeated the Friars, 4-1, in the Hockey East Championship game in 2023. Northeastern went 2-1-1 in four games against PC in 2022-23. In four games against the Friars last season, Katy Knoll led all Huskies with four assists. Gwyneth Philips posted both wins in goal last year and averaged a 1.50 GAA and .927 save percentage over four games. The Friars sit at 2-7-0 on the season with their wins coming over Maine and New Hampshire.
The Huskies will next travel to Vermont on Tuesday, Nov. 21 at 6 p.m.
