WORCESTER, Mass. – Derin Erdogan tallied a team-high 12 points, but the Holy Cross Crusaders (5-5), used a big second half to take down the Northeastern women's basketball team (4-5), 65-41, on Sunday afternoon.
- Northeastern got off to a quick 4-1 lead after back-to-back baskets from Deja Bristol and Erdogan.
- Both teams went back and forth for most of the frame, with neither leading by more than two.
- An Erdogan three put NU back in front at the 4:21 mark, and a three in the last 10 seconds of the quarter by Oralye Kiefer gave the Huskies a 12-7 advantage heading into the second.
- Holy Cross fought back to start the second, trimming the deficit to 12-11 at the 8:04 mark after four straight points.
- Gemima Motema ended the run by the hosts with four straight points of her own, extending the Huskies' lead to 16-11.
- Holy Cross tallied 12 straight points to take a 23-16 advantage down the stretch and took a 26-22 lead into halftime.
- The Huskies came out firing in the third, trimming the Crusaders advantage to 31-29 after layups from Bristol and Kiefer.
- Holy Cross went on an 8-0 run to balloon its lead to 41-31 with 2:39 to go in the frame, and led 44-31 heading into the fourth.
- The Crusaders shot 52.9% overall (9-of-17) in the fourth, outscoring the Huskies 21-10 in the frame to seal the win.
- Holy Cross tallied 19 points off turnovers compared to four by Northeastern.
- The Crusaders also edged the Huskies in paint points, 22 to 10.
The Huskies will host Boston University to close out their non-conference slate on Friday, December 22. Tip-off is slated for noon, and will stream on NESN and FloHoops.
