SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Derin Erdogan and
Deja Bristol tallied double-digits, but the No. RV/RV Syracuse Orange (7-1) used a big second half to pull away from the Northeastern women's basketball team (4-4) on Monday night at the JMA Wireless Dome.
Erdogan had a stellar night with 23 points on 9-of-17 shooting with five-threes, which tied a career-high. Bristol notched 16 points and was a perfect 6-of-6 from the charity stripe. On the boards,
Asha Parker had a strong performance with 10 rebounds.
- Bristol got the Huskies off to a quick 4-2 lead after back-to-back layups.
- The Huskies continued to push the pace, as Erdogan extended the advantage to 7-4 after a three-pointer.
- Erdogan was on fire, tallying a layup and another three-pointer to make it 16-10 at the 4:30 mark.
- Down the stretch, Syracuse went on a 6-0 run to trim the deficit to one at 19-18 going into the second.
- NU shot 53% overall (7-of-13) in the frame.
- Bristol continued her stellar play to start the second, tallying a jumper to put the Huskies up at 21-18.
- Syracuse went on a 7-0 run to take its first lead of the game (25-21) at the 5:48 mark.
- Jaelyn Batts tallied back-to-back jumpers down the stretch, but Syracuse led 32-27 going into halftime.
- Syracuse extended its lead to 38-31 to start the third, but Erdogan responded back with a layup to end the run by the hosts.
- The Huskies continued to fight back, as Erdogan got a 6-0 run started with back-to-back jumpers to trim the Syracuse advantage to 45-41 at the 3:45 mark.
- Syracuse outscored Northeastern 9-0 the rest of the way to take a 54-41 lead into the final frame.
- The Orange shot 71.4% overall (10-of-14) in the fourth to seal the win.
The Huskies will head to Worcester to face Holy Cross on Sunday, December 17. Tip-off is slated for 2 p.m.
