BOSTON – The Northeastern men's basketball team heads back on the road for a pair of games this weekend, beginning on Saturday night at UNCW (7 p.m.). The Huskies will then head to No. RV/RV Charleston for a 7 p.m. tip-off on Monday night. Both games will be streamed on FloHoops.
Â
THREE THINGS TO KNOW
Â
1. SERIES HISTORY
The Huskies and Seahawks are meeting for the 33rd time in series history, and first time this season. Northeastern holds a 17-15 advantage in the series as NU looks for its first win in Wilmington since 2019.
Â
Northeastern will then look to avenge a January loss to Charleston on Monday night. It'll be the 22nd meeting all-time between the two teams, with NU holding an 11-10 advantage in the series.
Â
2. MOVIN' ON UP
Jahmyl Telfort's 16 points on Wednesday vs. Hofstra moved the junior into a tie for 43rd on Northeastern's all-time scoring list with 974 points. He's just the 15th player in program history to crack the top-50 in scoring in three seasons or less, and is 26 points away from becoming the 41st player in NU history to reach 1000 career points.Â
Â
Telfort has reached double-figures in all but three games this season, including a career-high 31 points on Dec. 29 vs. NC A&T, one of 73 players in team history to score at least 31 points in a game. He is currently fifth in the CAA in field goal perc. (47.3%) and sixth in points per game (16.1).
Â
3. DOMINATING THE GLASS
The Huskies have outrebounded their opponent in 12 of the last 16 games, and 14 times overall this season. Northeastern is 80th in the NCAA, and third in the CAA in rebound margin (3.6).
Â
NU held their opponents to 19 rebounds in back-to-back games on Jan. 16 and Jan. 19, the first time since the 2014-15 season that the Huskies kept an opponent under 20 rebounds in consecutive games.
