BOSTON – The Northeastern men's track and field program finished up competition at the David Hemery Valentine Invitational at BU's Track and Tennis Center today.
Sophomore
Benjamin Godish set the Northeastern school record in the 3000m by over 12 seconds with a time of 7:52.03. The time is the best in the CAA this season by over 10 seconds.
Graduate student
Matthew Schaefer broke the Northeastern school record in the 5000m, running a time of 13:52.00 to surpass it by six seconds.
- Starting things off in the 60m hurdles, Collin Haj Abed finished sixth at 8.63. Following behind was Caleb Burns at 8.64 and Paul Wisnaskas at 8.77.
- In the 60m dash, Nii Yarboi Yartey finished fifth at 7.02.
- In the 800m, Reed Cherry finished fourth at 1:47.87, narrowly missing the school record he recently set by 0.03 seconds. Pierre Sylvain (1:53.31), Ryan Dailor (1:54.03) and Astor Meredith-Goujon (1:55.33) finished as well.
- Phillips Magre led the way in the 400m with a time of 48.68, while Cory Gathier came in at 48.73.
- Ethan Exilhomme finished first in the 60m hurdles with a time of 7.74, while Noah Sweeney placed first in the 60m dash at 6.77.
- Sweeney led the way again in the 200m dash at 21.68. Following behind was Magre at 21.74 and Yartey at 22.47.
- In the 1 mile, James Pothier finished at 4:09.64 to lead the way for Northeastern, while Patrick Cantlon (4:11.65), Anders Narita (4:11.81) and Tyler Brogan (4:13.77) finished as well.
- In the 3000m, Kyle Sarney finished at 8:15.68 and Patrick Mullen came in at 8:20.36. Malav Mehta finished at 8:31.57 and Cyrus Kurd at 8:32.92.
- On the field side, Haj Abed led the way in the long jump at 6.62m. Following behind was Wisnaskas at 6.41m and John Lung at 6.38m.
- Ryan Sewell competed in the shot put, posting a mark of 12.51m.
- Lung finished fourth in the high jump at 1.99m.
- In the weight throw, Nicholas Pisciotta finished tenth at 17.04m.
- Jordan Spencer finished ninth in the triple jump at 13.59m.
- Jessie Legister, Gathier, Cherry and Magre competed in the 1600m relay, finishing in 3:14.98.
- In the lone women's event of the day, the 4000m medley relay, Sarah Petersen, Lucinda Shotts, Lucy Abdow and Vivian McMahon ran a time of 11:37.29.
- Capping off the night for the Huskies was Patrick Cullen at 14:17.85 in the 5000m.
The Huskies will be back in action for the inaugural CAA Championships from Feb. 22-23 in Virginia Beach, Va.
