HAMPTON, Va. – The Northeastern women's basketball team (12-11, 7-5 CAA) held-off a furious fourth quarter rally by host Hampton (8-14, 5-7 CAA), to earn a hard-fought 72-67 win on Sunday.

The hosts rallied from down nine late, but missed a pair of late, game-tying, three pointers to allow the Huskies to escape with the victory.Â

JaMiya Braxton scored eight of her 19 points in the fourth, while junior
Derin Erdogan scored 17 of her 19 points in the first half.

Erdogan added seven rebounds and five assists, while senior
Jaelyn Batts contributed with nine points, five assists, four steals and four rebounds.
- Both teams traded points in the opening minutes as a three by Erdogan put the Huskies up 9-7 at the 6:39 mark. Hampton continued to respond back down the stretch of the first, but a layup by freshman Ariana Webb and a jumper by Erdogan in the final minutes gave Northeastern a 17-15 lead heading into the second.
- A quick three by the Lady Pirates put the hosts up 18-17, but Erdogan and Braxton hit back-to-back threes to put the Huskies back ahead, 23-18.
- Northeastern continued to be strong from long range, as Erdogan tallied another three at the 6:43 mark to push the lead to 27-18.
- The hosts went on a 5-0 run in the final two minutes of the second to trim the deficit to 34-33, but the Huskies held onto a 35-33 lead going into the half.
- Erdogan had 17 points in the first half as Northeastern shot 50% (12-of-24) overall and 50% (4-of-8) from long range in the first twenty minutes.
- The Lady Pirates quickly knotted up the contest at 35 with a layup in the opening minute of the third, but a bucket by Batts immediately put the Huskies back in front.
- After the hosts tied it back up at 37, the Huskies went on a 11-0 run over the next three minutes, punctuated by an Erdogan layup.
- A layup by sophomore Asha Parker with 4:30 left in the third made it 52-39, giving NU a game-best 13 point lead, but Hampton responded with six straight to cut the lead to 52-45.
- The teams would trade points to end the third, as the Huskies took a 54-47 lead into the final frame.
- After the teams traded buckets, Northeastern would score five straight to go up 10, at 59-49, but the hosts roared back with an 8-0 run to trim the NU lead to 59-57.
- Braxton ended the run with a layup, and the teams would then trade buckets as Northeastern would lead 63-59 at the midway point of the quarter.
- After the Lady Pirates made it 63-61, Braxton drained a three to kick-start a crucial 7-0 run over the next 41 seconds in which the Huskies did not allow a shot thanks to steals from Batts and sophomore Gemima Motema.
- The hosts scored the next six points, but their game-tying three attempt with 40 seconds left missed, and Braxton pulled down the rebound.
- After a turnover, Hampton had one last chance, but missed a three with seven seconds left.
- Erdogan collected the rebound and found Motema streaking down the court, who got a layup at the buzzer to ice the game.
 The Huskies hit the road again to take on Drexel on Friday, February 17. Tip-off is slated for 6 pm, and can be watched on FloHoops.
