PHILADELPHIA – The Northeastern women's basketball team (13-11, 8-5 CAA) outscored host Drexel (18-7, 10-4 CAA), 27-10, in the fourth quarter to earn a 71-64 victory on Friday evening at the Daskalakis Athletic Center.

The win snapped a 17-game losing streak to the Dragons, and was the first home loss for first place Drexel this season.

It was also DU's largest margin of defeat at home since 2/28/21 (61-51 vs JMU), a streak of 32 games.

The Huskies held the Dragons without a made field goal for the final 7:03 of the contest, outscoring the hosts 20-6 from that point on.

Junior Derin Erdogan paced Northeastern with a team-high 21 points, and a career-high eight assists. The Huskies also got double-digit performances from junior Deja Bristol with a career-high 18 points, graduate student JaMiya Braxton had 12 points, and sophomore Gemima Motema tallied 10 points.
  • Drexel got off to a quick 4-0 lead in the contest, but back-to-back layups by sophomore Asha Parker tied things up.
  • The Huskies then went on a 7-0 run, highlighted by a three from Braxton to go up 11-5 at the 5:21 mark.
  • Both teams traded baskets for the remainder of the first, as the Huskies shot a blistering 75% (9-of-12) in the quarter, and took a 22-18 lead into the second.
  • A 7-0 run for the hosts to start the second gave them a 25-22 lead.
  • The Huskies fought right back though, knotted up the contest with three straight points.
  • Northeastern went on a 7-0 run of its own to end the quarter, highlighted by a tough three-pointer by Erdogan with the shot clock winding down, to take a 32-27 lead into the half.
  • Northeastern shot 50% (13-of-26), and Erdogan led the way with 10 points and six assists.
  • The Dragons got off to a hot start in the third, immediately going on another 7-0 run to take a 34-32 lead within the first two minutes of the quarter.
  • After the hosts led 39-34 a few minutes later, Erdogan tallied a triple to trim the deficit down to two, but the Dragons responded back with five straight points to lead 44-37 at the 6:07 mark.
  • Drexel dominated in the quarter, shooting 62.5% overall (10-of-16) and outscored the Huskies 27-12 in the frame to take a 54-44 lead into the fourth.
  • The Dragons immediately ballooned its lead up to 10 (56-46) in the first minute of the fourth, but the Huskies continued to fight back as a three by Erdogan and a layup by Bristol trimmed the deficit right back down to five.
  • The duo continued to pace the Huskies' offense, as both juniors tallied back-to-back layups a few minutes later to cut the host's advantage to 60-57 at the 5:40 mark.
  • Braxton tallied a game-tying three-pointer a minute later, and Northeastern pulled ahead at 64-61 after a jumper by Batts and a pair of free throws by Motema.
  • Braxton hit a fastbreak layup and was fouled, and then hit the free throw, to put Northeastern up 68-61 with 58 seconds to go
  • The Huskies edged Drexel in points in the paint (36-26), fast break points (17-9) and bench points (18-6).
