Charleston Tops Northeastern, 99-63

CHARLESTON – No. RV/RV Charleston (25-3, 13-2) put four players in double figures and used an 18-2 first half run en route to a 99-63 win over the Northeastern men's basketball team (8-17, 4-10) on Monday night at TD Arena.

Jahmyl Telfort had 11 points on the night, becoming the 41st player in program history to score 1000 career points. As a team, Northeastern shot 24-of-65 overall and 5-of-22 from deep.

The Cougars were led by Ante Brzovic's 23 points on 9-of-15 shooting, while Dalton Bolon (14 points), Pat Robinson III (14 points) and Ben Burnham (16 points) also reached double digits for a Charleston squad that scored 52 points in the paint and shot 59% overall (38-of-64).

• The Cougars couldn't miss in the first half, starting the game 16-of-21 from the floor to lead by as many as 25 before heading into the break with a 49-32 advantage.

• The Huskies were within striking distance during an up-tempo start to the game before Charleston went on an 18-2 run over three minutes to take command of the game. Brzovic had seven points during the run before finishing with 17 in the half.

• Northeastern wouldn't shy away, though, going on a 12-0 run over less than three minutes, capped by a corner three from Rashad King to cut into the deficit. NU finished the half 15-of-34 (44%) from the floor.

• The Cougars would then use another big run (15-2) over 5:15 early in the second half to remain in control the rest of the way.

The Huskies will return home for two games this week, beginning on Thursday night against Monmouth at 7 p.m. Tickets are available at NUHuskies.com/tickets and the game will be streamed on FloHoops.
