HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. – Hofstra (23-8, 16-2) closed the first half on an 18-4 and opened the second with a 9-0 run to knock off the Northeastern men's basketball team (10-19, 6-12) in the regular season finale on Saturday afternoon at the Mack Sports Complex, 84-52.

The Huskies will await results of other games around the league to learn its first opponent in next week's Jersey Mike's CAA Men's Basketball Championship in Washington, D.C.

Northeastern finished the day 18-of-57 from the field and 5-of-18 from three point range, led by 12 points from
Chase Cormier.

Hofstra, which turned the ball over just three times, scored 44 points in the paint en route to a 35-of-66 afternoon overall. Three Pride players reached double figures led by Tyler Thomas' 23 points. Warren Williams added 19 points and nine boards, while Aaron Estrada had 16 and five assists.

• Northeastern stayed within striking distance during the first half before a 16-2 Hofstra run over five minutes gave the Pride a 13-point lead heading into the locker room, 38-25.

• Cormier was strong off the bench for the Huskies, dropping eight points on 3-of-5 shooting to lead an NU group that was 10-of-31 overall and 3-of-11 from deep.
Jahmyl Telfort added seven points and three boards, playing every second of the half.

• Hofstra, meanwhile, got nine points from German Plotnikov while Estrada added eight points, two boards and two assists for the Pride (16-of-33 overall; 3-of-10 from three).

• A quick 9-0 out of the break gave Hofstra a 20-point advantage at the Under-16 timeout to keep the Pride comfortably ahead the rest of the way.
