THREE THINGS TO KNOW:
- GOOD THINGS COME IN THREES: Alina Mueller, Chloé Aurard and Maureen Murphy are all three in the top-eight point scorers in the NCAA. Mueller leads the Huskies with 55 points (fourth in the NCAA), while Murphy and Aurard are tied for eighth with 50 points. Northeastern is the only school in the country with three players in the top-10 in NCAA scoring. The trio has combined for 655 career points, with all three being 200-point scorers in their career. Northeastern is the first Hockey East school to have three active 200-point scorers on one roster and just the second ever in NCAA Division I history, joining Minnesota Duluth.
- TOURNEY TIME: Northeastern is looking to capture an unprecedented sixth-straight Bertagna Trophy. The Huskies have won five-straight Hockey East Tournaments and have outscored their opponents 68-16 over the course of that run. This marks the first time top-seeded Northeastern and fourth-seeded Boston College have met in the Hockey East Playoffs since the 2018-19 season when the Huskies defeated BC, 3-2 in OT to win their second Hockey East Championship. The Eagles and Huskies are meeting in the semifinals for second time with the last matchup being a 4-1 win for NU in 2013. Northeastern is 8-5 in Hockey East Semifinal appearances, with six victories in a row dating back to the 2017 season.
- OUT OF TOWNERS: Northeastern and Boston College are meeting for the fifth time this season, this time in the Hockey East Semifinals. The Huskies swept the regular season series and defeated the Eagles, 2-1, to capture their 18th Beanpot title. Mueller has led all Huskies with eight points against BC this season. Goaltender Gwyneth Philips is 4-0-0 against BC with three shutouts, a .989 save percentage and .25 GAA. Boston College defeated UConn, 4-3, in overtime to advance to the Hockey East Semifinals. Katie Pyne scored the game-winner and game-tying goal for the Eagles. Hannah Bilka is the lone Eagle to score against NU this season, potting an extra-attacker goal in the Beanpot. Abigail Levy has made all four starts in goal, with a .940 save percentage and 2.25 GAA against the Huskies.
With a victory, the Huskies will advance to the Hockey East Championship on Saturday, March 4 in Matthews Arena to face the winner of second-seeded Vermont vs. third-seeded Providence.
