MITCHELL/ERDOGAN PRESS CONFERENCE

TOWSON, MD. - The third-seeded Northeastern women's basketball team (19-11) outscored sixth-seeded Stony Brook (18-13), 25-10, in the fourth quarter to come away with a 85-68 victory in the CAA Quarterfinals on Friday night at Towson's SECU Arena.

Derin Erdogan scored 21 of her career-high 27 points in the first half, and added a career-best 10 assists for her first double-double.

Jaelyn Batts also tallied double-figures in the contest. Braxton and Motema each had 14, while Batts had 10 points.

On the boards, juniors
Deja Bristol and
Halle Idowu led the Huskies. Bristol tallied 10 rebounds (seven defensive), and Idowu had seven.

Northeastern will face No.7 Monmouth tomorrow at 4:30 pm in the CAA Semifinals.
- Erdogan came out on fire, scoring nine of the Huskies first 14 points as they led 14-7 just five minutes in.
- The Seawolves went on a 6-0 run, which Northeastern answered with its own 6-0 run.
- SBU again went on a 6-0 run, but Erdogan drained a step-back three before the buzzer to send the Huskies into the second quarter up 23-19.
- Stony Brook went up 31-29 just three minutes into the frame, but Northeastern went on a 10-0 run over 4:14 to take a 39-31 lead, before eventually settling for a 42-37 lead at the break.
- The Huskies' lead was 49-43 four minutes in when the Seawolves rattled off 10-straight to take a 53-49 lead with 3:21 left.
- Erdogan ended the run with a driving layup, Â Motema hit a fast-break jumper to tie, and Idowu got a basket and the foul to complete the 7-0 run in just 1:03.
- The teams traded points the rest of the way as NU took a 60-58 lead into the final quarter.
- After a turnover on the first possession of the frame, the Huskies scored on their next six in a row to grow the lead to 73-60, just 3:19 into the quarter.
- Stony Brook made one last run and cut the deficit to 10 with four minutes left, but the Huskies would go on an 8-0 over the next two-plus minutes to seal the victory.
- The Huskies shot 71.4% (10-of-14) overall in the fourth including making their only three-point attempt and making all four free throws they shot.
- Northeastern edged Stony Brook in paint points (32-24), second-chance points (13-10) and fast break points (13-6).
The winner of tomorrow's semifinal will face either #1 Towson or #4 William & Mary in the Championship game on Sunday, March 12 at 2 pm. The game will be televised on CBS Sports Network.
