THREE THINGS TO KNOW:
- KAZ MONEY MUELLER: Alina Mueller was named a Top-Three Finalist for the Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award. This marks the second time Mueller has been named a Top-Three Finalist, becoming the first Husky to ever be in the top-three twice, and she is the first-ever five-time Top-10 Finalist. Mueller was named the Hockey East Player of the Year for the third time in her career, tying a league record. She finished her Hockey East career as the all-time points leader with 175 points. The Huskies are 29-0-0 when Mueller records a point this season. Mueller ranks tied for first in the country with nine game-winning goals on the season and has been involved in 22 of the Huskies' 33 game-winners.
- THE SIX: For the sixth-straight season, Northeastern claimed the Hockey East Tournament title and the conference's automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament. The Huskies defeated Providence, 4-1, to claim a record sixth-straight Hockey East Championship. Alina Mueller was named the Tournament MVP and was joined on the All-Tournament Team by Gwyneth Philips, Megan Carter, Maureen Murphy and Peyton Anderson. Northeastern also won the Regular Season Crown for the fourth time earlier in the season to enter the tournament as the No. 1 seed with home ice.
- TOURNAMENT TIME: Northeastern is in the NCAA Tournament for the seventh time overall and sixth-straight season. The fifth-seeded Huskies are opening their NCAA Tournament at the fourth-seeded Bulldogs and it marks the first true road game for NU since the 2017-18 season when they traveled to Colgate. The Huskies are 3-5-0 overall in the NCAA Tournament and 2-3-0 in their opening round game of the NCAAs. Northeastern and Yale have never met in the NCAA Tournament and NU is 0-2 against ECAC schools, with losses to Colgate in 2018 and Cornell in 2019.
The winner will advance to the Frozen Four, hosted by Minnesota Duluth from March 17-19 in Amsoil Arena.
