BOSTON— Capping off another outstanding year for Northeastern Athletics, 82 student-athletes earned their degrees at Northeastern University's 121
st Commencement on Sunday evening at Fenway Park. The Class of 2023 pushed Northeastern Athletics to new heights, going down as one of the most successful in Northeastern history, both academically and athletically.
In the classroom, the graduates combined for a cumulative GPA of 3.443. 15 student athletes earned cum laude honors (3.5-3.69 GPA), 12 achieved magna cum laude honors (3.7-3.849 GPA), and 22 graduated with summa cum laude honors (3.85-4.0 GPA).
On whatever playing surface these student-athletes found themselves competing on, they shined. They combined for seven regular season conference championships (CAA and Hockey East), 13 conference tournament titles, nine NCAA appearances, four Beanpot titles, three Frozen Four appearances, along with countless other accolades.
Gates to Fenway Park will open at 8:00 a.m. for the graduate commencement procession set to start at 8:45 a.m. before the ceremony at 10:00 a.m. Gates for the undergraduate ceremony will open at 2:00 p.m., followed by the procession at 2:45 p.m. and the ceremony beginning at 4:00 p.m. Northeastern University will also provide a live stream of the event at commencement.northeastern.edu. Mariam Naficy will deliver the commencement address and will receive an honorary doctoral degree. Naficy is best known as the founder and chairman of Minted, an online marketplace of design goods created by a global community of independent artists.
