Huskies Begin Home Stand with Harvard, Stonehill

BOSTON - The Northeastern University baseball team (22-4) begins a five game home stand with two midweeks on Tuesday, April 4th and Wednesday, April 5th at Friedman Diamond in Brookline. The Huskies host the Harvard Crimson (7-16) on Tuesday for the opening round of the 32nd Baseball Beanpot, and welcome in Stonehill (3-19) on Wednesday. Both games are scheduled for 3 p.m. starts and will stream on FloBaseball.

THREE THINGS TO KNOW:
  1. FOR ALL THE BEANS: Northeastern enters the 2023 Baseball Beanpot as last season's third place team - after being edged out by Boston College in the first round, 4-2, they ran past Harvard in the consolation game by a score of 10-6 in Cambridge. Northeastern has not made it to the Beanpot final since 2018, where they fell to the Crimson 8-6 at Friedman Diamond. Northeastern's last Beanpot win came in 2013, defeating UMass 6-3 at Fenway Park.
  2. REMEMBER THEIR NAMES: Going into the seventh weekend of play, the Huskies had a total of seven players ranked on D1Baseball's Week 6 power rankings - on the starting pitcher rankings, Wyatt Scotti ranked 54th in the nation, and the 37th best strike-thrower. Out of the bullpen, Griffin Young was named the 32nd best relief pitcher. Another starting pitcher, Aiven Cabral was named the fourth best strike-thrower in the 'Control Artist' power rankings. Offensively, Danny Crossen was ranked the nation's 32nd-best third baseman, and a trio of outfielders were ranked in the top 100 of NCAA D1 players: Alex Lane (55th), Harrison Feinberg (59th) and Mike Sirota (94th).
  3. A HOT MONTH: The Huskies posted a 16-3 record in the month of march with a 5-3 conference record, on their way to the second-longest active win streak in the country, 10 wins, this past Sunday to begin April. The Huskies outscored opponents 153-63 on the month and posted a team batting average of .313 and a team ERA of 2.99. Northeastern hit 31 homers in the month of March.
The Huskies will stay home this weekend for another CAA match up, hosting the Delaware Blue Hens in a three-game series this Friday through Sunday, April 7-9. All games will broadcast on FloBaseball and WRBB 104.9 FM. Friday's series opener will also simulcast on NESN.
