BOSTON - The Northeastern University baseball team (38-11, 18-9 CAA) closes out the regular season with a three-game series with the College of Charleston (33-18, 17-10 CAA) this Thursday through Saturday, May 18-20 at Friedman Diamond in Brookline, Mass.
Friday's game will be Northeastern Staff Day, honoring and recognizing Northeastern University staff members, and Saturday's game will be Family Day with a replica bat giveaway and a running of the base paths and meet-and-greet post game.
THREE THINGS TO KNOW:
-  CLASH OF THE TITANS: In the final weekend of the regular season, four of the top five CAA teams will face off against each other, as the top four seeds all wrestle for position in the postseason seeding. The Huskies and Cougars are currently #2 and #4 in the standings, while the current first place team UNCW faces the fifth-place William & Mary Tribe. Fourth place Elon travels to Hofstra for its final series. The top four seeds of the CAA are currently separated by a game or less, and all have a chance at chasing the regular season title.
- Â FAMILIAR FOES: The Huskies and the Cougars met five times in the 2022 season - Charleston took a regular season series sweep in Mount Pleasant last season, and secured the #1 overall seed in the tournament. The #5 seed Huskies met the Cougars twice in that tournament, getting wins in both games to advance to the semifinals and championship game.
-  HOME FIELD ADVANTAGE: Northeastern holds a strong 18-3 record at Friedman Diamond this season, going 10-2 in CAA play with four conference series victories on home turf. It marks the 10th straight season that the Huskies have posted a winning record in Brookline. (Includes the COVID-shortened season: 1-0 home record).
After this weekend's series, the Huskies hit the road again for the CAA Tournament taking place in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina on Wednesday May 24th. The Huskies' seed and first opponent will hinge on the results around the CAA this coming weekend. All CAA Tournament games will be streamed on FloBaseball.
