Huskies Set For Home Opener

BOSTON— The Northeastern women's soccer team will host the San Jose State Spartans on Thursday, Aug. 24 at 6 p.m. at Parsons Field in the Huskies' home opener. Northeastern will then welcome Eastern Michigan to Parsons Field on Sunday, Aug. 27 at 1 p.m.

Both games will stream live on FloFC. Thursday's game will also feature a postgame meet and greet with the team.

THREE THINGS TO KNOW:
  1. FIRST WIN FEELING: Northeastern took down Holy Cross, 3-1, this past Sunday to claim its first victory of the 2023 season after suffering a 2-0 setback at Xavier in the season opener. Avery LeVangie scored her first two career goals, including the game-winner against the Crusaders. Sofie Fox potted her first goal as a Husky and Jessie Hunt claimed two assists against Holy cross.
  2. SCOUTING THE SPARTANS: Northeastern and San Jose State have met once before, back in 2001 with the Huskies claiming a 5-3 victory. The Spartans are still looking for their first win of the season, after falling 2-1 to No. 19 Santa Clara and tying UC Santa Barbara, 1-1. The Spartans won the Mountain West conference in 2022 and have four returning All-Mountain West honorees this season in Bente Pernot, Bella Flocchini, Sabrina Weinman and Tatiana Cunningham.
  3. A LOOK AT THE EAGLES: The Huskies and Eastern Michigan are meeting for the first time in program history on Sunday. The Eagles will face Dartmouth on Friday before venturing to Brookline to face NU. Eastern Michigan is 0-1-1 on the year so far, tying St. Bonaventure, 2-2, and dropping 1-0 to Oakland. The Eagles were picked to finish ninth in the Mid-American Conference Preseason Coaches Poll.
The Huskies will continue their homestand, hosting Boston University on Sunday, Sept. 3 at 6 p.m.
