LOUISVILLE — Two goals from graduate student midfielder
Lauren Rowe and another tally from senior forward
Lauryn Wojcik provided enough offense for the Northeastern field hockey team in its 3-1 win over Bellarmine at Trager Stadium Sunday afternoon.
- Head coach Pam Spuehler earned her first career win at the helm of the Huskies.
- The Knights struck first in the second quarter, but Rowe responded with her first goal off a corner right before the half to knot it at 1-1 headed into the break. Sophomore midfielder Emilia Adragna provided the assist.
- The Huskies took the lead in the third, as Rowe scored another goal off an assist by senior forward Sarah Coyle eight minutes into the period.
- Rowe has now scored multiple goals in a game eight times over her four seasons of recorded action as a Husky.
- Wojcik's goal came with less than two minutes to play in the third off a rebound. She spun around and fired it past the Bellarmine goaltender for her first career goal.
- Junior goaltender Kristina Merashoff made five saves and earned her first career win in net.
- The Huskies thoroughly outplayed the Knights, outshooting them 13-6 and forcing 11 corners compared to the Knights' five. Northeastern benefited from the Knights picking up two green cards and a yellow card.
Next up, the Huskies return home to Dedham Field with their home opener Friday, Sept. 1 at 6 p.m against Holy Cross.
