BOSTON— For the first time this season, the Northeastern women's soccer team is set to hit the road for conference play, first taking on the Campbell Camels on Thursday, Sept. 14 at 7 p.m. The Huskies will then travel to Elon for a Sunday afternoon tilt at 1 p.m.
Both games will stream live on FloFC.
THREE THINGS TO KNOW:
- AKYIREM HEATS UP: Sophomore forward Vivian Akyirem was named the CAA Offensive Player of the Week after posting two goals and one assist in a 1-0-1 weekend for the Huskies. Akyirem posted a goal and an assist for a three-point outing in the win over the Seahawks, and followed it up with a penalty kick goal in the 2-2 draw against Drexel. Akyirem now has seven points (3G, 1A) on the season for NU.
- LET'S TALK ABOUT CAMELS: A new CAA member this season, Campbell and Northeastern will be meeting for the first time in program history on Thursday. The Camels enter the matchup most recently dropping a 1-0 decision to Hofstra. Alyssa Tucker leads the Camels with two goals and five points, while JLo Varada has played the bulk of the minutes in goal with a 1.20 GAA and .727 save percentage.
- SCOUTING THE PHOENIX: Northeastern owns a 4-3-2 overall record against Elon, but the Huskies have not posted a win over the Phoenix since 2019. Elon sits at 1-2-2 on the season, with its lone win coming over Wofford, 3-0. The Phoenix will face Towson on Thursday before taking on the Huskies. Gabby Hoschek leads Elon with three goals and McKenna Dalfonso has played in all five games in goal with a 1.75 GAA and .731 save percentage.
Up next, the Huskies will return home to Parsons Field to host Hampton for Senior Day on Sunday, Sept. 24 at 1 p.m.
